Important facts about wearing contact lenses

wet contact lens.JPG (12424 bytes)When you wear contact lenses it is important to have regular eye health checks.

Many serious problems can be avoided by wearing clean, well fitting lenses.

All contact lenses have a definite maximum life span. Know what that is and never exceed that time.

You should also follow your optometrists advice on the correct wearing times and which solutions to use.

Astigmatism Correcting (toric) Soft Lenses

The Vision Center now stocks seven  varieties of soft astigmatism correcting lenses. These lenses are now available in daily wear, flex wear and extended wear. Many patients have been told that they can not wear contact lenses due to astigmatism. This is no longer true. Almost any prescription can now be fit with comfortable and clear soft lenses.

Keratoconus

Keratoconus is an eye disease causing severe irregularity in the shape of the cornea. Eyeglasses will not work for this condition. Special gas permeable contact lenses are required to obtain optimum vision. The Vision Center has successfully worked with a great many keratoconic patients. This often very difficult fitting has been made far easier with the new computer systems in the office. Keratoconus is considered to be a medical problem. Your medical insurance will often cover all needed examinations and contact lenses.
